Why It's Never Too Late To Start Practicing Yoga

When you think of people who do yoga, there is a good chance that you will think of those who are young, flexible and able to tackle those tricky shapes and poses. Of course, plenty of people like that enjoy yoga regularly, but just as equally, there are those who are further away from this example.

One of the best things about yoga is that it is for everyone. The very nature of it is that it is an activity that can work for anyone, no matter their physical health, strength and body type.

This means that if you are someone who has always wanted to try out yoga, then the good news is that it's never too late to start! Not sure that you believe me? Here are the reasons why I believe that this is true!

You can start right at the beginning.....

A common reason that people give when it comes to not starting yoga is that they are worried that they won't be able to achieve some of the moves (especially If they are older). However, this doesn't have to be the case.

Yoga is an activity that is for everyone. There are a variety of stages that you can move through as you are on your yoga journey, and you will start right at the very beginning.

You can attend classes that are designed to give you an introduction to yoga and cover the fundamental basics of it as a physical activity as well as a stress-reducing activity too.

….and make yoga work for you

Another great thing about yoga is that you can take it at your own pace. You never have to feel rushed or that you need to jump to the next level straight away. You can learn as quickly as you feel best for you.

Then, when you are ready, you can move on to the next stage, which will help you to grow your strength and really unlock the full potential of what yoga can do for you.

It will improve your bone density

Bone-related issues are one of the common issues that impact people as they age. Bones lose density, and this means that they are more prone to breaking when they otherwise may not have.

You may not think it, but yoga can actually help to improve your bone density. Even as little as 10 minutes in a day can have a positive impact on the density of your bones over a two-year period.

It will improve your overall health

Yoga is designed to give your body a workout, and any kind of physical activity is good for you. It not only strengthens your muscles, but it also helps your heart to pump harder (and, in turn, to grow stronger).

Yoga can also have a positive impact on your mental health and well-being too. It will encourage your brain to release all of those lovely happy chemicals that will have a positive impact on your mood and how you feel overall.

As you can see, there are plenty of reasons to start yoga, no matter what stage you are at in your life. Think about the types of yoga that may work best for you and give them a go. You never know how much they could improve your life.

I offer a weekly Gentle Yoga class as well as regularly running Beginner’s workshops.
